With Trump and his administration in government for less than a week, the damage his four years of presidency will bring has already been shown. As Trump has signed executive orders towards negative and constitution-breaking issues, behind the spotlight of these executive orders is the administration beginning to restrain and destroy the EPA. So far, the white house government web site has had its climate change content removed, a freeze on grants and contracts, and now scientific work will be vetted by the administration before it is released. It is these actions which put Americans in danger. When the effects of climate change become even more present to the American people, we will be unaware due to EPA's and scientific grants' restriction. "Public servants should be free to state simple scientific facts. Americans have the right to see and benefit from taxpayer-funded research, and scientists have the right to share their finding openly and honestly, without political pressure, manipulation, or suppression. Political staff should never be in charge of deciding what scientific conclusions the public is allowed to see" (Union of Concerned Scientists).
This article is important as it presents Trump's denial towards science and that it will greatly harm our environment and people. Climate change is real and science doesn't lie, but Trump and his administration does. Many have already stood up against Trump with National Parks tweeting scientific facts, social media pages of national park workers sharing information of scientific facts, and the planning of the March for Science in Washington D.C. It is our mission, as Americans, to unite and spread the issue of climate change and the importance of science. We cannot let the government filled with ignorance and oil tycoons win.
